EKF English Championships 2014

Sunday 31st saw Sensei Sat and the A squad compete at the English Kyu Grade and Dan Grade Championships in Sheffield Ponds Forge.

First up on the Saturday was Alex James who received a bye first round, won second 3-0, lost in the semis 2-4 earning a well deserved Bronze medal.

Next up on the Sunday was PJ who started off very well scoring 2 early points, however got caught again with a kick to head in the last 20 seconds and losing 2-3 to the bronze medallist.

Next up was Fran won team even 9-1 taking the clubs first Gold, followed by the -53kg category taking Gold, followed by the Open winning Gold again and having fought a total of 8 fights!! Triple Gold Champion.

Last up was Sophie Santillo who fought very well winning all three fights and taking another Gold for the club.

The club total was 4 Golds and 1 Bronze with 4 competitors competing, and with one other bronze from Forza karate taking the total association tally to 4 Golds 2 Bronzes and 10 in the association table.

Sensei Sat commented "The guys were magnificent this weekend and we never take the national championships lightly as this is the highlight comp for the year. The team were simply brilliant and the hard work, determination and desire shone through!! My thanks goes out to all those who competed, covered the club and supported us and the association!!"
