Swiss Open Championships and National Training 2013

Swiss Open ChampionshipsSaturday 23rd February 2013 saw two junior members of Khalsa Champions represent the club.

First was Fran Hardcastle who went to England National Training. This was the first session following the Europeans and a good way to build team morale. After a hard days training Fran was asked to fight off against a very talented girl who has great kicks. Her opponent was at an advantage by being given 2 points, which worked in favour as it put Fran under pressure! Fran having done well at the Euro's continued her success by winning 6-2. Well done Fran!

Second up was Sophie who had booked the Swiss International a while ago which is why she could not attend national training, however made up the day by winning Gold in the Swiss Open Championships!!! Sophie had a very talented Luxembourg fighter first round and won 8-0. Her second opponent was against a home nation opponent and again won 8-0. Her semi final fight was against a very aggressive German opponent, and Sophie managed to take and hold the lead and the win 1-0. Reaching the final Sophie met a very good Swiss National fighter and like the semis was a very hard fight but managed the win 3-2 and the Gold!! Well done Sophie!

Sensei Sat commented "The girls have had a great weekend, training and competing and this showed in their fights!!! the girls understand the goals i have set and will now work to accomplish them. This weekend was a good start to those goals!! Well done girls!!
