Turkish Open International

This month saw Sophie Santillo compete in the Turkish Open Championships in Istanbul.

Having recently got selected to fight for England in the European Championships, Sophie had to get as much mat experience and fight experience as she could, and this was her third international comp in 3 months.

Sophie did not disappoint and earned a well deserved bronze and beat the number 3 in the world. Having lost to the Turkish opponent in the worlds for bronze place Sophie managed the win on home soil.

Sensei Sat commented " This was an excellent result for Sophie as she has won every competition this year on home ground and now medalled or placed on all 3 international competitions that she has entered. Sophie must now focus on the Europeans and hopefully we can get another International placing. My Thanks goes to Michelle King who at the drop of a hat, dropped everything to help coach, collect and guardian Sophie. There are not many clubs that have Instructors with heart, respect and love for others, and both Sophie and i would like to thank Michelle for being so supportive and making the trip possible. My thanks also goes to MCE and Director Richard Morley and team for sponsoring Sophie and helping her compete at top level. Again without there support Sophie's ambitions would not come true!
